Video and animation have been one of my mediums as a fine artist. Most of my work is intended to be part of video installations in a gallery space, and do not follow a standard film storyline or narrative. Consider most of this to be video art 🙂
My short film (stop motion) Caterpillars was featured in Spike and Mike’s Sick and Twisted Film Festival and was shown in theatres and film screenings across the US. This is a comedy and it is NSFW.
Air is a hybrid animation-video-craft piece with some elements made using pressed flowers and wax paper, video overlays and of course hand drawn 2d animation. This is a dreamscape world focused on feelings of escaping, exploring, and an ultimate desire to bloom, and success doing so, after a mental crash landing.
Lucid was made using oil pastels, old school animation cels and an old school down-shooter. This speaks on the mental spiral one can find themselves in when dealing with emotional challenges. The only thing digital about this was the editing 🙂
This video “orbs” won an award after showing in a gallery space is is included in the Museum of Jurassic Technology archives.
Longing, the inspiration for Lucid, was part of an immersive video installation that showed in galleries in LA. This 5 minute loop speaks on the explorative curiosity of the world, of the surreal nature of the human subconscious, and explores texture, shadow and light as emotive elements.
These are just a very scarce few compared to dozens or hundreds of pieces. The majority of my work has ended up being dust in the wind, but as I unearth more of it I will post it here.
