Hi. Thanks for visiting! I’m amy kamala and I’m a tech nerd + artist from Venice Beach (California).
I’m chatty – you’ve been warned. Near the ocean is my happy place and I’m a look-at-the-moon person. I’m not a cat vs dog person, I’m an animal person. I don’t eat meat, I don’t squish spiders, empathy is my super power – and it’s also my biggest weakness. I like gardening, baking, crafting, rollerskating, yoga, meditation, poetry, climbing trees, bass music, science-fiction, non-fiction and theology.
I’m a full stack dev and work in tech in a team lead capacity. I have a BFA from OTIS College of Art and Design, and an MFA from UCLA in animation. I’m a contributor to the WordPress Open Source Project, since 2018. Thank you to Elementor for sponsoring my contributions!
My career in tech started in technical support at a web host and later progressed to pushing code, facilitating new products (which made revenue in beta), and leading dev/design teams. I’ve worked for 3 web hosts, a few web development agencies, film/animation studios, and I’ve shown artwork in art shows and film screenings. I can’t say when my career in art started, I am always making stuff.
Art was my primary MO for a long time, with tech crossing over to support my art. At some point tech took over with art being the supportive crossover. I don’t claim to know what my life purpose is, but I do know it has something to do with those two things.
