Apparently I was quoted alongside @matt in this 365i.co.uk article WordPress 7 launched what actually shipped. This isn’t exactly an article that praises me, unless being “unusually direct” and not softening blows is a good thing. *chuckles*
I do usually tend to be really bubbly and peppy in my communications, so they are right that this carried a different tone. It also deviates from the optimistic, warm and diplomatic WordPress voice that is standard in WP marketing materials and posts. Additionally, they are alluding to a sense of disappointment that seemed to kind of universally permeate the community upon the decision to pull RTC from WP 7.0. So yes, I deviated there. The statement landed a bit heavy. I guess I was also being more matter of fact because I wanted to be clear and quick, to communicate the info but not divert a ton of focus away from what is in the release, and because Anne had already made the formal announcement. And honestly I was just really tired from the chaos of the release, the sleep deprivation from early-morning release parties, the massive amount of work I was putting in towards the end of the cycle, and from traveling for WCAsia 2026. I guess I’m not quite as bubbly when I’m tired. Don’t worry though, I am all caught up on sleep now and back to my peppy smiley cute heart-dispensing self.
