In April 2020 I had the amazing experience of speaking (remotely, pandemic status) at WordCamp Santa Clarita. THE WC Santa Clarita team is an incredible team with amazing people who I am so grateful and happy to know.
This talk walks you through WordPress basics: everything from file structure and database architecture to wp-admin usage and .htaccess, to object oriented programming foundation and how that applies to WordPress through hooks, actions and filters, to plugin and theme structure. A truly fantastic talk for someone starting their journey with WordPress who wants to learn.
Unfortunately my delivery of this talk was rather embarrassing as I had been super sick with the original strain of covid, had just lost my job at Kanopi Studios, and generally have horrible stagefright – so I spent the first 10 minutes of this talk literally choking in front of everyone. Because of this I was really ambarrassed and asked WordPress.tv to delete the video of my talk! So, yeah that was fun! Regardless though the content is solid, and it was a great learning experience for all.
